Abby is a master gardener, a strong and remarkable woman, a true friend. Her garden is as remarkable as she is - complex and lovely - lush, green and absolutely packed with rare and unusual plants. When she arrives, (always bearing numerous gifts from her garden) we feast on Indian food, cruise the nurseries and antique stores and play endless rounds of "Justify That Plant" (aka "What the HELL were you thinking?)Unfortunately, this weekend's visit was a bit different, given the circumstances - but we did manage the Indian food (after all, who's going to pass up a chance for Tandoori?) and a hasty, late afternoon visit to the Botanic Gardens.

And true to form, Abigail generously delivered several flats of beauties from Annie's Annuals: http://www.anniesannuals.com/

Fuchsia fulgens: (honestly, I felt weak in the knees when I first saw this one.)
Nicotiana glutinosa: Yeah, I love anything pink. I'm such a girly girl!More pink! And one of my favorites - Penstemon parryi: (But don't overwater this one - I've killed more than one that way)

I like the fuchsia - I had one ages ago but lost it. Your picture reminds me how lovely it was. I must get it again as I like the ones with the tubular flowers.
That Fuchsia fulgens is one of my favorites at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. I tried to grow it from seed, but no luck.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I like that 'weak in the knees' description as I can relate! I just read your previous post on the fires which bring them to a personal level one doesn't get from the news.
