Late Winter Flowers

This Tasmanian tree fern is jumping the gun a little I think. I hope it knows what it's doing.
It rained for most of February and the first week of March. I haven't yet read if we got enough rain and snow in the Sierra Mountains to alleviate our water problems here in the Bay Area, but the rain and now sun have brought out a lot of late winter blooms. This wasp looks like he's taking a nap in the Camellia blossom.

And, of course, the primulas are in full bloom.

This cymbidium but out three stalks of buds last fall and they're finally opening..

Nothing says spring time like daffodils.

Did I mention I love primrose? The hybridizers are doing a fine job with the colors these days. Soon the trees will be leafing out and the roses will be blooming and we will have made it through another winter.

Wow! I'm jealous of all the blooms. The photo with the wasp is great...I'd like to do the same thing!

I think we have the same cymbidium. Mind flowered last year, but not this year. I think it's fine for tree ferns to unfurl new fronds now, don't you?

Thanks for your comments. The Bay Area has lots of micro climates. Here in the inland valley we get many more nights in the low 30's and high 20's than cities closer to the ocean. We could still get a frost that might damage the new fronds. Hopefully, the weather report would give us enough warning that I could cover the fronds for the night.
